The culprit here is the Communicator for Mac 2011 13.1.1 update (that enabled desktop sharing). My only option would have been to use Lync in my Windows 7 VM if I didn’t work it out. You could open an IM with someone, but as soon as you entered text and pressed enter, it would crash.
